The Chartered Surveyor has launched a programme of hiring high achievers at a junior level from other industries and providing them with comprehensive technical training alongside experienced chartered surveyors as a way of introducing new skillsets into the business.

We need to attract new blood into the industry and so we are recruiting motivated people from other industries and training them to deliver our exceptionally high standards.So far, we have recruited individuals from estate agency and retail backgrounds as we have found that these areas encourage a lot of softer skills that can benefit the role of a surveyor. As the RICS Home Survey Standard consultation has identified, communication is key to great customer outcomes and with the right level of technical training, individuals who are good communicators, make excellent surveyors.”
