When someone wishes to undertake work on or close to a boundary, the Party Wall Act 1996 may be triggered.  The purpose of the Act is to ensure that all residents' interests are protected and that both properties‘ structural integrity are protected.  It doesn’t matter if this work entails changes to an existing structure, new building works or excavations, they are all covered by the Act.  We have specialist surveyors who can act in the matter if you or your neighbour intends to carry out work near your boundary.
